The Butchers Arms
A lovely old half-timbered pub in gorgeous countryside 8 miles southeast of Hereford and a few miles from Ledbury, Ross and Malvern. The M50, A449, A49 and A417 are all fairly close by.
Chef owner Stephen Bull took over the Butchers last year. ‘I offer excellent pub cooking at fantastic value using local suppliers and produce. So my menus include Goodrich Longhorn beef, Chepstow ducks, Kentchurch venison, fish from Cornish inshore boats, and fruit and veg from nearby farms and gardens.
‘The Butchers also has five cask beers plus farmhouse cider on hand pump. My wine list has 10 bottles by the glass and carafe, and some good bottles for splashing out. It’s a cosy place with open fires, very low beamed ceilings and a pretty garden with a stream.
‘A separate dining room seats 24. This is ideal for shooting parties, Christmas, small functions and business meetings, and it’s where I hold regular food and wine evenings, e.g. Catalonia, the Perigord, and Tuscany (see Latest News for the next event).’
The Butchers Arms has a Bib Gourmand in the 2011 Michelin Guide awarded for ‘good food at moderate prices’. In the Michelin Pub Guide 2011, the Butchers is an ‘Inspector’s Favourite’. A ‘Good Pub’ in the latest Good Pub Guide 2012.
